Hi, I'm Kharissa Parker.
News Producer in Kansas City, MO
I know, I know. Society wants you to believe that what you do shapes your identity and, consequently, your worth in this world. Well, I believe the very opposite to be true. When your identity shapes what you do, that's when you've found your sweet spot. My sweet spot is being a news producer. I've also found joy in the roles I play as a self-care writer, voice over artist, and website designer — but we'll get to all of that.
Beyond work, I'm a true artist at heart. I enjoy painting, photography, and poetry. (You can see some of my pieces on the blog.) As a KC native living in the heart of the city, I love visiting museums, The City Market, and local breweries. I won't lie: as much as I'm into health and wellness, I don't mind a good dining experience at one of our up and coming bars and restaurants! Truth be told, I'm a real homebody. I don't see anything wrong with a quiet weekend indoors accompanied by hip hop on vinyl and a good red blend.

My goal as a news producer is to raise the bar on inclusive journalism by changing the narrative, amplifying voices, and celebrating stories in marginalized communities. When viewers watch my show (tune in weekdays at noon on FOX4), they'll find themselves engaged in stories that inform, educate, and — most importantly — unite the Kansas City community.
